This privacy policy describes how the QR & Barcode Scanner app ("the app"), developed by Vhirty, handles information when you use it.
Information we do not collect
The app does not require an account, does not collect your name, email address, or any personal identification information. Scanned and created QR/barcode data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
Camera access
The app requests camera permission solely to scan QR codes and barcodes in real time. Camera images are processed entirely on your device and are never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
Third-party services
Advertising (Google AdMob). The app displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as an advertising ID) and approximate location to deliver relevant ads. This data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization).
Product lookup (Open Food Facts). When you scan a product barcode, the app sends only the scanned barcode number to the Open Food Facts API to retrieve product information. No personal data is included in this request.
Data storage
QR codes and barcodes you scan or create are stored locally on your device using a local database. This data stays on your device and is deleted if you uninstall the app or clear app data. We do not have access to this data.
Permissions
The app may request the following permissions:
- Camera — to scan QR codes and barcodes.
- Internet / network state — to load ads and look up product information.
- Storage (on older Android versions) — to save generated QR code images to your gallery.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
